WIND RIVER
Why are we attracted to the mountains ~ easy ~ our eyes see better,
our ears hear better, our smell is more acute, touch is more sensitive.
Senses are tuned, the mind is clear.
Finis Mitchell said when we stop coming to the mountains we die ~ literally the truth.
Winds are special. They come into view as we peer into the distance.
A sense of present, past and future descend upon you. The air is pure.
There is a still and untouched feeling, that which is untouched by us,
although it is not true. Nothing rests here. Time is not stagnant.
Lakes dot the trail at every altitude.
The passes are carved from moving rock.
Danger is present.
